President's Message

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone had a safe new year’s.

The start of a new year traditionally brings on an abundance of resolutions.  Many of which are forgotten after only a few days, some after a few weeks.  A good friend recently tasked me with choosing one word to sum up my goals for the year versus bogging myself down with unrealistic expectations.  I have chosen “stability” as my objective for 2018.   I task each of you with choosing one word to sum up your goals for the year.  Make this word your 2018 Motto.

Our first event planned for the New Year is a joint mixer event with ASCE.  It will be held on January 11th at the Fort Myers Brewery from 5:30 to 7:30.  There will be a tent set up and food trucks.  The brewery will also be providing a tour for those interested.

February is a busy month for FES; we have the 27th Annual Southwest Florida Water Resource Conference, MATHCOUNTS, E-Week, and County Proclamations!

MATHCOUNTS will be held on February 17th at Dunbar High School in Fort Myers.  We are still looking for sponsors and volunteers for the event.  Please contact the MATHCOUNTS Chair’s Kellie Fissinger, fissinger@abbinc.com, or Christian Harvey, christian.harvey@kimley-horn.com, for sponsorship and/or volunteer information.

E-Week is the week of February 18th through the 24th.  We encourage all of our members to be active in events encouraging education to the youth.  Should you wish to participate or start an E-Week presentation please contact Richard Lewis our K-12 Committee Member, rlewis@lewis-solutions.com.

Other upcoming events to look forward are tour of the Babcock Ranch Development tentatively scheduled for March 9th and we have FES Lobbyist Allen Douglas April 4th.  Meeting venues or topic suggestions are always welcome.

Check out our website, www.fes-calusa.org, or our Facebook page, @FESCalusa, for upcoming meetings, events, job postings, member updates, etc.  Should you or your firm have any pictures, job postings, community events, etc. feel free to tag us or email to publicrelations@fes-calusa.org.

We look forward to seeing everyone at our upcoming mixer and throughout the year!
